Groton U12 Galaxy Girls Take 1st Place

Congratulations to the Groton U12 Galaxy team who won 1st place in the girls division at the 2nd Annual American Legion Post 39 Cup on September 18th. Also great job to the U10B Gold Tigers who received second place in the boys/coed division. We had great fun and teams here from Webster, Mitchell, Chamberlain, and Watertown. Next year we look forward to our 3rd Annual tourney!

GSA Awards Scholarship

Groton Soccer Association is pleased to award a $350 scholarship to Toby Carda for his selection to the South Dakota Olympic Development Team as he attended the Region 2 Camp & Tournament in Overland Park, KS July 14-18. During his experience at camp, Toby played with top players from South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Region 2 is represented by 14 state associations from the Midwest including SD, MN, NE, IA, MI, WI, OH South, OH North, KY, IN, KS, MO, ND & IL. Coaches from around the state, region, nation and even the world conducted training sessions during the various ODP trainings. Toby had training specifically from a college coach from IL; a competitive club coach from Scotland and an internation player now college coach from Nigeria. GSA hopes to encourage many of our local soccer players to take advantage of SD ODP to improve on their soccer skills.

A scholarship is available to any GSA player who is selected to the state team and attends the Region 2 camp. Details can be obtained from any board member.
